As a Partner at HFR, Scott Magar has developed a keen eye for restaurant, retail and commercial design. His skills consist of program development, schematics, construction documents and administration of production teams. Scott’s predilection for art and math have made his 25 years of working in the field of architecture a pleasurable undertaking. Twenty out of those 25 years have been spent managing a team of architects and engineers at HFR. As a mindful and thoughtful leader, he guides his team to serve clients with one word in mind, relationships. The saying “Relationships are key” has followed Scott throughout his career and is noticeable with every interaction he has whether it be with clients or peers. Scott derives strength from his capacity to listen, organize ideas, develop programs and assemble the right team to complete the task. He observes his team to ensure they have what they need in order to get the job done. His trust in his team enriches their ability to produce an overall successful product. Scott values the bond created when design services and the unique personal decisions of each client intertwine. He revels in witnessing the use of the end product and the abundant client satisfaction that is sure to follow. In 2021 Scott joined as a member of the University of Arkansas Fay Jones School of Architecture + Design Dean’s Circle.
