Three Roles. Three Perspectives. Meet Porter Wilde.

Great design and strong project coordination are critical to moving our projects from idea to completion. But there’s another perspective that turns those ideas into something that can actually stand: structural engineering.

At HFR, structural engineering is part of that larger integrated process. With architects and engineers working side by side, structural considerations can become part of the design conversation earlier—giving teams more opportunity to identify potential conflicts, explore solutions, and make informed decisions before challenges grow.

That’s the perspective Porter Wilde brings to HFR as a Structural Engineer.

Porter joined the team in July with experience primarily in industrial and residential design and is looking forward to expanding that experience into commercial projects.

“I’m excited to learn more about commercial buildings as my experience has mostly been industrial and residential designs. I’m also excited to contribute to the structural templates and process to help with more accurate designs.”

That focus on accuracy and early problem-solving is also central to the way Porter thinks about collaboration.

“Communicating with the design team about potential structural conflicts ahead of time so as to not have hardships late into a project.”

For HFR’s clients, those early conversations can make a meaningful difference. Identifying potential structural conflicts sooner gives architects and engineers more time to work through solutions together, helping reduce surprises later in the design and construction process.

And Porter’s technical curiosity goes back even further than structural engineering.

He originally went to school for computer machining and manufacturing [CAD/CAM], where one of his projects involved crafting a small metal cannon.

From machining to structural design, Porter clearly has an interest in understanding how things are built and how they come together.

We’re excited to have his technical experience, problem-solving mindset, and structural expertise strengthening HFR’s integrated team.

Welcome to HFR, Porter.
