Courtroom Millwork Renovation

March 2023 – For the City of Gainesville’s Public Safety Complex, HFR redesigned the multi-purpose courtroom and meeting room to balance functionality and audio/visual capabilities with the need for a highly aesthetic space.  This meeting space is shared amongst an array of usages, including courtroom proceedings, city council meetings, and other functions requiring a large seating capacity and technology systems for presentations.

Designed to enhance spatial quality and create a civic aesthetic appropriate for the proceedings, the architectural millwork renovation reworked the center podium area and attorney tables to carefully match the adjacent existing wood millwork and seamlessly integrate with the original building construction.

This renovation required clear communication from the outset through construction, as HFR coordinated closely with multiple user groups to determine functionality, and with the architectural millwork fabricator to ensure production and final installation met the needs of the client.   As a result, HFR was able to create an innovative setup to accommodate user requirements and city functions.
